New Service Helps Washington Employers Extend Health Benefits Affordably to All Their Employees.

Company launches a straightforward, low-cost way for employers to offer health benefits to uninsured employees.

SEATTLE, WA (September 12, 2007) – Array Health Solutions, Inc., a benefits administration company, has rolled out its new service to help reduce the number of Washington’s uninsured. The company fills a growing need for businesses that want to offer health benefits but cannot afford the cost of a traditional group health insurance plan for all their employees. "We are very excited to have created a valuable service that gives more people access to health insurance," says co-founder and CEO Jonathan Rickert.

Array’s service enables employers to give employees a fixed monthly health benefit allowance on a tax-preferred basis. Employees can use their allowance for qualified medical expenses, including individual health insurance policies. The company has built a clean and simple proprietary web-based platform that helps administer the service. Employers benefit from increased health benefit cost stability and greater funding flexibility. Employees have the freedom to use their benefit allowance for whatever individual health policy or other qualified medical expenses they wish.

Array has received a lot of interest from employers with many employees who are ineligible for a traditional group health plan and from employers who do not currently offer one. "The response we have received from the business community has been excellent. Employers in industries with many ineligible employees, such as restaurants, car dealerships, landscapers, and nursing homes, are keenly interested in our service," says Mr. Rickert. Array sells exclusively through benefit brokers.

According to The Kaiser Family Foundation, the percentage of employers offering group health insurance coverage has decreased by 13% over the last seven years. The primary reasons for this decline in coverage are cost and renewal volatility. Kaiser estimates that only 60% of employers provide group health insurance today. In addition, many other employers offer health insurance benefits to only a small portion of their employee populations. Washington has nearly 800,000 uninsured people.

The company’s mission is to help employers reduce the number of working uninsured. Array sells its service and supporting web-based platform to employers exclusively through the insurance brokerage community.
